I have done a lot of posts following the mobile payments industry ie. the sending of money between mobile phones, and it looks like there’s a new kid on the block, TexPayMe.

Although at first I thought I would simply dismiss this site, after a bit of digging I discovered some interesting facts.    TextPayMe is liscenced under MNESVC Inc, which funnily enough is a fully owned subsidary of Amazon.

So far, Amazon has not made a comment on its connection with TextPayMe.  But could Amazon seriously be considering taking on PayPal?   Amazon has always stated that PayPal was a competitor and this is the reason why PayPal isn’t accepted on Amazon.

The site has been around for a couple of years now but hasn’t really done much.  It will be interesting to know how they plan on competing with Obopay, KushCash and PayPal Mobile.
