A Look at Zoho Notebook

Zoho is continuing its fast growth we the announcement of a new feature Zoho Notebook.  As the name suggests, its a notebook which can have text, audio, video, images and more added to it.  Plus a browser plugin means copy and pasting content from any site a piece of cake.

Notebook is currently in Private Beta and I am looking forward to giving it a test run.  I will let the video do the rest of the explaining.

Tap Bar is Here

The Tap Bar is Tap Media’s very own toolbar.  We would like to think of it as the toolbar for web 2.0 addicts.  Here is what you get:

  • Web 2.0 Aggregator - get breaking news from digg, techcrunch, Tailrank, this blog and more.
  • Net TV - Never miss another episode of your favorite tech podcasts.
  • Bookmark it - share what you find with other users through social bookmarking.  Works with all major social bookmarking sites.
  • Search - now you can search Google, Flickr, YouTube and technorati, plus the dictionary, stocks, weather and more.
  • Site Commenting - With one click you can comment on and discuss any site through Zpeech
  • All the regulars - like pop-up blocker, email notifier, weather etc.

Get it now at www.theamazingtoolbar.com

YouTube Set to Pay Users for Content

Take a look at this story from Mashable.  It discusses how YouTube founder Chad Hurley hinted at the companies plan to share revenue with its users.

Will this be the death of Revver which is currently paying users?

Babelgum is Next Gen TV

I predict TV over the internet is going to be the “big” thing in 2007.  I have already taken a look at Joost (previously the “Venice Project”) and was impressed. And now a new player has emerged - Babelgum.com

I havn’t heard much about Babelgum except it will offer a desktop based player that will be able to deliver full screen viewing.

There website (www.babelgum.com) mentions the software will learn from what you have watched to create personal channels which sounds exciting!

I will look forward to being able to test the software out and see if it lives up to its talk.

Some Changes to Tap!

Well if you have been reading the Tap Blog over the past few months you may have noticed some new changes.

The biggest two changes have been the new domain www.go2tap.com (rather then www.thatamazingperson.com) and a new design which was changed today.

Although I am still on holidays I am trying to post a bit more frequently then over Christmas.  So make sure you comment and send me any apps you would like to see reviewed!

New Name for “Venice Project”

Internet TV startup, The Venice Project, will soon be known as Joost.  The project started by Skype founders Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis, has long been “code named” the Venice Project.

The Techcrunch Blog, also discussed this news stating that using a code name fore pre-launch dilutes the brand.  However, with all the attention it is receiving due to its code name its hard to say this will apply to Joost.  A very basic page can currently be found at www.joost.com

Thank You From TAP

2006 is fast coming to an end and what a year it has been!  The internet exploded with exciting new websites and even TAP has grown “amazingly”!

The Team at TAP would like to thank all of our visitors, readers and listeners.  Without your emails, comments and feedback we would never have come this far.

So whats in store for 2007? Well over January I will be taking a break from writing this blog to concentrate on developing new sites with the rest of TAP.  So don’t expect anything much from the blog unitl February!  Look out for our new Podcast “TapWrap” being first broadcast live on February 2nd.  Our exisiting podcasts will also be continuing in February.

Were currently working extra hard on a new Technology Podcast Network that will aggregate existing tech podcasts together on the one site.  This will use some shiny new technology and we are all very excited to get it launched!

I will also use this chance to once again ask for your support.  If you have hosted a podcast you will now just how much bandwidth it chews through and this costs an awful lot.  Your support over the year has been awesome and I have now added a donation widget to the sidebar.  Every dollar counts and all donators also gian access to a special members area fullk of exclusive content including our most popular content “beta invites to new web2.0 sites”!

New Changes to Digg

Digg recently released some new changes and features.

The most obvious of all is the design.  They have taken the navigation links from the left hand side and moved them to the top and the layout is now fluid (meaning it will stretch and compress depending on your screen size).

But the most important change is Digg has broadened digging to Podcasts.  Users can now “digg” Podcasts (both audio and video) in the same way you would digg a news story.

Richard MacManus (Read/Write Web) mentioned in his coverage on this story, that it “…is likely to appeal to a younger - less techie, but more media savvy - audience that up till now probably hasn’t been aware of Digg”  I completely agree!  Digg definately appeals to to the “Geek” crowd.  Introducing the sexy concept of Podcasts could make Digg a first choice for those looking for quality Podcasts (apart from iTunes).

The scary thing is here at TAP we were developing a very similar product where we were aggregating a number of Technology podcasts on the one page and allowing you to view them right from this site and subscribe to all the podcasts in one feed. I am also aware of a number of other prominent companies working on similar products.

As Podcasts become more popular there is obviously going to be a boom in sites that aggregate this content.  We have seen a few site emerge already and Digg is just continuing the trend.

Let me know what you think of Digg’s new features and design.

News from TAP

A lot has been going on in recent weeks at TAP so here is the latest news.

Netflask
I posted about www.netflask.com a week or so ago but I will once again bring it to everyones attention as it is becoming quite popular.  Netflask is a simple mashup that takes the feeds from a number of the leading tech blogs ad places it on the one page.  You can also subscribe to the rss feed which has all the feeds in one.  We will be adding more sites to Netflask over the coming days.

List2.0
Recently I have been receiving a growing number of requests to review web2.0 sites.  I simply haven’t had the time to review as many as I would have like to so I decided to start list2.0 where anyone can submit site reviews to be listed on the list2.0 website.  At the moment the site is tiny and we haven’t yet started taking reviews but stay tuned for more. Hopefully this site will grow into a comprehensive list of apps available online.

TapCast
TapCast has finished for the year but next year this live web2.0 talk show will be bigger and better. We are currently working hard to put together next years series and the addition of a much valued sponsor means we have a great budget to work with.

Holidays
I will be going away for six weeks over the end of December and through to February.  Therefore posting here at TAP will be limited.  My biggest fear is this blog could almost disappear and so I am desperately seeking a couple of guest bloggers.

Well thats all the news from TAP.  Thank you to everyone who supports us by commenting and linking to us!

NetFlask.com Has Launched

Here at TAP we have just launched our latest website NetFlask.com.  Netflask aggregates a number of the top technology blogs onto the one page.  If you’re like me and check tech blogs a number of times throughout the day you may find NetFlask a useful resource.

You can also grab the NetFlask RSS feed which aggregates all of the blogs listed into one feed.

We are also looking for blogs that should be added to this page.  Just submit your favorite tech blogs through the submission form and I’ll take a look.

Take a look at www.netflask.com
