WidgetBox Launches Blidgets

Widgetbox.com, which offers a directory of popular widgets has released Blidgets.  The service allows bloggers to create a “widget” of their content.

I wrote an earlier post on a similar product Musestorm and Blidgets seems to be a direct competitor.  Although the end result is the same on both sites Blidgets currently has the advantage of an existing visitor base.  It will be interesting to see how these sites compete.

Blidgets actually adds your widget to its gallery where as Musestorm relies on the blogger to promote it. I wonder which would be more popular with the bloggers? lol

Hey good point Matty. I guess this will be another battle where only time will tell the winner

    Guys, few points:
    1. MuseStorm offers bloggers Web AND Desktop widgets.
    2. Our widgets are also fully customizable by the end user, which improves the chances of users actually using the widget.
    3. On top of all that, we have integrated into PageFlakes, Netvibes with other services on the way - one click and the widget pops up on your personal homepage.
    4. There also an integration into Snipperoo, a widget directory and a direct competitor of Widgetbox, so you’re widget will be listed
    5. Our experience shows that most users don’t look up widgets on directories - they expect the publisher to supply them!

  4. […] I wrote a short post on Blidgets and Musestorm at the Tap Blog here. And you may have noticed that I have now added a Musestorm widget to this blog I didnt want to go into details on why I prefer Musestorm on the Tap Blog but I will here.  First up, Musestorm has a lot more features then Blidgets.  Although not currently available Mobile and Instant Messenger widgets are coming soon and they already have a desktop as well as web based widget.  This means that the Tap Blog widget will accessible to more people.
